A fundraising event (also called a fundraiser) is an event or campaign whose primary purpose is to raise money for a cause, charity or non-profit organization.

Fundraising is the legitimate process of collecting money by requesting donations from individuals and businesses while donation is a voluntary gift or contribution for a specific cause.

Sponsoring something (or someone) is the act of supporting an event, activity, person, or organization financially or through the provision of products or services. The individual or group that provides the support, similar to a benefactor, is known as sponsor.

Patronage – material support to an organization, carried out by private donors on the basis of personal initiative and personal choice.

Volunteer – a person who carries out charitable or other socially useful activities in the form of free provision of his labor.

A non-profit organization – a legal entity that does not have the goal of making a profit from its own activities and does not distribute the received profit among its participants.
