Aibek Smagul joined SDU University in 2022 as a senior lecturer at the department of natural sciences. In 2024 he became assistant professor and biology master's program coordinator. Aibek Smagul has worked in the field of molecular biology, particularly studying non-infectious human diseases. He worked at the genetic laboratory at Asfendiyarov Kazakh national medical university as a research scientist. He also had short term internship at Buck institute for research on ageing, CA, USA.
