Department of secondary education
SDU Extension School has set itself the goal of improving the quality of staff in secondary education in Kazakhstan by providing professional development courses for educational institutions across the country.
The rapid development of distance and blended learning worldwide has necessitated the need to train teachers to innovate new pedagogical approaches: combining new teaching methods and digital skills.
One of the main objectives of the school is to create a platform for teachers to improve their teaching skills without interrupting their workflow or to create their own authored courses, thus opening the way to online coaching.
Objectives and functions
- Online Course Development: The department creates quality distance learning materials, including video lectures, interactive assignments, tests and other educational resources.
- Faculty Training: The department trains faculty in effective distance learning methods and strategies and helps them adapt to the online learning format.
- Educational Platform Management: The department is responsible for the management and maintenance of the educational platforms on which online courses are delivered, including their customization, updating and administration.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: the department tracks distance learning processes, analyzes data, and evaluates program effectiveness to continuously improve the quality of education.
- Creating educational resources: This may include the development of textbooks, multimedia materials, interactive workshops, and other educational resources to support distance courses.

Thank you to the organizers and speakers for an informative course on distance learning methods and platforms. I especially liked Dmitry Cherkasov’s presentation, his creative approach and advanced teaching methods with posts and Challenges on Instagram and other social networks. Now I will be more confident, making videos turns out to be not so difficult, and it is even possible to engage students and develop their creativity during the course.

The course was planned competently, emphasized the necessary things in distance learning and in general how to “live” in the digital environment, speakers, moderators and tutors explained complex issues in detail, and responded immediately to questions, that is, feedback is provided in full.

We got a lot of useful material, platform, resources from these webinars, learned how to use them, how to convey to students in a qualitative, convenient, interesting way, to increase motivation. The main priority of educational programs should be constant sensitivity to change and development of the ability to assimilate new knowledge. After all, this sphere should not lag behind the time, the requirements of the time. Changes are necessary. A breakthrough is required. School programs should also be improved and updated in accordance with modern requirements.
STUDIO
A Studio is a unit at the SDU, open platform where staff is offered various resources and support for the development of online learning and teaching. In addition, the CDL helps to use multimedia tools in the development of courses, teaching and assessment during distance learning.
The main goal of the Studio is to support teachers in developing high-quality multimedia educational content, as well as conducting trainings aimed at developing talented teachers in the field of digital technologies.
Studio is equipped with soundproof room and cabins, where big room is convenient for video shooting and the cabins are used for online lecturing. The studio is fully equipped with professional audio-visual equipment and is always ready to help in the implementation of any projects of SDU teachers.
The center itself provides the opportunity to book a studio, booth or sign up for a consultation.
