An international conference dedicated to current issues of law, society, and media in Central Asia was held at SDU University
On April 17–18, the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences at SDU University hosted an international conference titled “Central Asia in a Changing World: Legal Challenges and the Media Landscape.” At the opening of the conference, the Rector of SDU University, Alimzhan Igenbayev, delivered a welcome speech, highlighting the importance of scholarly dialogue on contemporary challenges facing Central Asia.
During the first plenary session, experts from the United States, Sweden, and Kazakhstan presented reports on the region’s environmental policies and Central Asia’s role in international law. Among the keynote speakers were Professor Sébastien Peyrouse from George Washington University, Dr. Ann-Mari Sätre from Uppsala University, and Dr. Rustam Atadjanov from KIMEP University. Scholars and researchers from China, South Korea, Germany, and other countries also took part in the sessions.
The ICLSS-2025 conference became an important international platform that brought together academic perspectives on the future of Central Asia, laying the foundation for new ideas and partnerships.
