Nexus Game Training Held at SDU University
As part of the Sustainable Development Week, on September 23-24, representatives of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) conducted a trainer’s workshop on the interactive Nexus game at the university.
In accordance with the game’s conditions, 9 faculty members and 18 students from our university took on the roles of ministers and prime ministers of countries located along the upstream and downstream parts of a river. Notably, the game was held in Kazakh for the first time.
During the game, participants gained an understanding of the interconnection between water, energy, and food security. Taking into account issues related to climate change, they tackled various challenges aimed at ensuring essential resources for their populations.
As part of the Sustainable Development Week, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia and SDU to integrate the Nexus game into the university’s educational system. During the event, the center’s director, Zafar Makhmudov, presented SDU University leadership with Nexus game sets in both English and Kazakh.
