In the Footsteps of History: ZAMANA club historians' visit to Uzbekistan
On March 23-24, teachers of the Faculty of Education and Humanities and young historians of Zamana club visited Tashkent and Samarkand of Uzbekistan. The main purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the culture of the brotherly country and to make an overview of historical and architectural monuments.
The traveling group got acquainted with ancient sites that have centuries-old history, such as Hast Imam complex in Tashkent, Mausoleum of Tole bi, Chorsu market, as well as visited modern Tashkent. On the second day of the visit, the historians traveled to the ancient city of Samarkand, founded in the VIII century BC. Famed military leader Emir Timur, who ruled half the world, flourished under his rule and became the capital, and the ancient sites of the city, which became the Golden Gate between China and Europe, were taken under UNESCO’s protection as historical heritage.
Historians have been particularly impressed by Emir Timur’s capital. We hope that the ancient cities along the Great Silk Road inspired the creativity of young travelers and contributed to their historical knowledge!
