SDU University and Pacific Asian Society Hold an Official Meeting to Strengthen Cooperation

On January 15, 2026, SDU University hosted an official meeting with representatives of the Pacific Asian Society (PAS). The event was organized with the aim of expanding international cooperation and developing partnerships in the fields of education and scientific research.

SDU University was represented by the Dean of the School of Education and Humanities, Dr. Dana Moldabayeva, Director of the Extension Center Aisulu Gatiat, Director of the International Relations Department Abbas Bodaubekov, Head of the Language School Meirbek Bozanbay, as well as other university representatives.

The Pacific Asian Society delegation included the President of the organization, Kim Bumsoo, Vice Presidents Lee Ji-eun and Jeon Gi-yeong, advisors, members of the executive team, team leaders, and interpreters.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of academic and cultural cooperation and signed an agreement aimed at strengthening partnership relations. In addition, the guests were offered a guided tour of the SDU University campus, during which they visited the scientific library, the International Relations Office, the Technopark multimedia center, and the modern laboratories of the G-Block and AI-Block.

The program continued with an exhibition showcasing artworks created by young participants of the language camp organized as part of the collaboration between SDU University and the Pacific Asian Society. The DemAll Language Camp was held at SDU University from January 6 to 16, 2026. Over the course of two weeks, participants engaged in intensive Korean language studies, while volunteers from the Pacific Asian Society were introduced to the Kazakh language and local culture.

This meeting and the implementation of the DemAll Language Camp marked an important step in SDU University’s efforts to expand international cooperation and laid a solid foundation for the realization of future joint projects.

Memorandum of Cooperation Signed between SDU University and Changshin University

Today, SDU University hosted an official delegation from Changshin University and representatives of the Department of Education of Gyeongsangnam-do Province (Republic of Korea).

During the meeting, the key areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed. Special attention was given to the organization of winter and summer schools, the development of academic mobility programs for students and faculty members, as well as international exchange of experience and strengthening of inter-university partnerships.

The South Korean side invited SDU University to take part in the International Education Fair to be held in December in Gyeongsangnam-do Province. This event will provide additional opportunities to expand academic and cultural cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between SDU University and Changshin University, marking a new stage in the development of bilateral relations.

Program description

The goal of the “International Business Law” program is to provide graduate students with deep knowledge and skills in the field of international commercial law, meeting the growing demand for highly qualified professionals. The program focuses on the practical application of law in business, including methods for resolving corporate conflicts, regulating international trade, financial operations, tax law, and legal support for international transactions. The uniqueness of the program lies in the integration of legal knowledge with an understanding of business processes, which prepares graduates for a successful career in the global business environment.

Learning outcomes

Analyze and evaluate the historical and philosophical foundations of scientific theories to form a critical perspective on contemporary social and scientific issues.
Demonstrate critical thinking skills in academic and legal writing, legal reasoning, and legal analysis, and make scientific conclusions.
Solve complex legal problems and apply the results in academic, pedagogical, and legal activities.
Conduct analysis and evaluation of research results, and formulate conclusions and recommendations on issues of German and national law.
Possess the ability to establish and maintain communicative connections.
Apply psychological principles and methods in management to resolve corporate conflicts and enhance staff performance.
Develop and implement modern teaching methods and pedagogical strategies to ensure an effective educational process.
Analyze legislative and law enforcement practices of international and national law, and make decisions based on the results of the analysis.

Beta Career is a special course for fourth year students that covers all elective courses of the penultimate semester of a study program. Beta Career is optional and has its own requirements described in the next sections. The number of students that are admitted to Beta Career is limited.

Goals

The goals of Beta Career are the following:
– Adjust professional preferences
– Apply theoretical knowledge to practice
– Get necessary basic knowledge
– Install network contacts

Duration

The duration of Beta Career is 15 weeks. It starts in September, and ends in December.

Grading Policy

The indicated score in the statement is 60 percent from the Organization and 40 percent (15 points for providing a weekly report, 25 points for the final presentation) from the University.
The assessment criteria should correspond to the quality of assimilation and application of skills corresponding to the subjects of the 7th semester specified in the syllabus.

Important

The company should be located in the city of Almaty.
The company must be included in the list of:
– The legal 500; and/or
– Asia Pacific Law; and/or
– Chambers and Partners.

Korean Culture Day at SDU University

Our country attaches special importance to the friendship of nations. Each nation’s culture is a unique world. Especially in today’s era of globalization, there is a growing number of people interested in the lifestyle and culture of other nations. At the same time, a group of SDU University students studying the Korean language organized a festive event dedicated to the Day of Korean Culture.

At the gala event in the SDU Life building, artists danced Korean national dances, sang songs and put on art performances. Organizers talked about the history and culture of the Korean people. Visitors also tasted and learned about Korean cuisine. Famous Korean dishes such as Kimpap, tokpokki were presented, national Korean games, calligraphy and master classes were organized within the university walls.

Korean culture day is an opportunity to make a journey into the beautiful world of Korean culture, gain experience and get acquainted with other cultural riches.

Profile
Arman Argynbayev joined SDU University in 2007 as a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Education and Humanities. Before SDU, Argynbayev worked at Auezov University in Semey and Bilim-Innovation Schools in numerous cities of Kazakhstan. Argynbayev is a winner of various multilingual and English Olympiads among teachers held by BIL Foundation and Almaty City Council. Currently, Arman is delivering lectures and seminars on assessment and a range of TEFL courses. Apart from assessment and evaluation, Argynbayev’s special interests include Project-Based Learning and Curriculum Design.

СДУ студенттері корей тілін Sejong Cyber University-де оқитын болады

As part of the collaboration between our university’s leadership, a delegation from SDU met with the President of Sejong Cyber University, the Director of Planning Department Kim Sang-beom, the Dean of the Korean Language Department Park Soo-yeon, and the Director of the Korean Language Education Center, Yoon Gyeong-won.
As a result, there was fruitful discussion and coordination between the educational faculties and staff of both institutions, focusing on the exchange of expertise, joint research projects, and organizing short-term study programs and field trips to historical sites.
Furthermore, SDU have established a partnership for knowledge exchange with instructors from Sejong Cyber University to enhance their Korean language teaching practices.

Program description

The main goal of the Master’s Program in Private Law is to prepare graduates with knowledge in the field of private and corporate law. The program aims to train specialists who have studied issues related to international commercial arbitration, patents, tax regulation of organizations, and corporate activities. It also aims to facilitate the acquisition of research skills through training in methods of article writing, and master’s thesis preparation, as well as professional skills related to legal consulting and organizing legal business.

Learning outcomes

ON1: Analyze the necessary information, systematize data and formulate conclusions; apply modern teaching methods, adapt them to the different needs of students, interact effectively with students and create a learning environment that promotes development.

ON2: Analyze and process the necessary information, think critically and formulate conclusions; develop optimal strategies for solving problems and making decisions related to professional activities; actively participate in public debates on legal issues.

Distinctive features of this program are the medium of instruction, which is English, a substantial number of credits allotted for the Minor (31 ECTS) within the program, highly popular and effective student-exchange program (Britain, Malaysia, South Korea, China, Lithuania, Poland, etc.), international staff, student-centered approach in the process of education, and a third foreign language (Turkish) in the curriculum.

Degree upon graduation

As a result of implementation of the educational program graduates are awarded the academic degree “Bachelor of Pedagogy in the specialty: Foreign Language: two foreign languages”

Learning outcomes

Ability to reflect and apply appropriate contemporary methods, instructional technologies, and student-centered approach in teaching English as a foreign language;
Ability to integrate various assessment forms and techniques, such as formative, summative, self- and peer-assessment;
Awareness of the methodology of teaching a second foreign language and will have high language competence in it; will transfer knowledge and practice from TEFL into teaching a second foreign language.
Competence in academic writing, analyze academic articles, design a research work and conduct it;
Ability to form positive attitude to a foreign language as a means of intercultural communication, foster respect and tolerance towards diverse cultures and groups, raise critical thinking, autonomy and responsibility among EFL learners.

The demand for graduates of this specialty is extremely high due to the exclusive competence of specialists. The best graduates successfully work in prestigious educational institutions of the Republic, such as Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, TAMOS, Miras, Bilim-Innovation Lyceum, schools for gifted children Daryn, gymnasiums and colleges .
Some graduates and graduates start their own business by launching and successfully operating private language centers, while others work online and provide online courses to the public.
