Program description

The Master’s Degree Programme provides essential insights, capabilities and intellectual tools for analysing legal problems of the Information Technology Law. The program addresses the increasing demand for qualified legal experts in the Information Technology sectors.

Pre-requisites

LAW 121 Fundamentals of civil law – 5 ECTS
LAW 127 Public Law Theory – 5 ECTS
Total: 10 ECTS

There is no need to study prerequisite subjects if your Bachelor degree (major) is in relative speciality.

Profile disciplines for complex testing

Situational case (a comprehensive legal analysis of a specific practical situation based on the application of the norms of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and / or international law)

Learning outcomes

ON1: Master the main methodological approaches used to generate new knowledge; quickly and effectively adapt to the legal academic community; structure research activities in a methodologically sound manner and achieve significant scientific results.

ON2: Apply legal support mechanisms for business in the field of information systems.

ON3: Creatively apply acquired knowledge in practice, translate new knowledge into concrete proposals; independently improve your qualifications, expand your knowledge and acquire new skills and abilities.

ON4: Analyze legislation and law enforcement practices, make decisions based on the results obtained.

ON5: Conduct experimental research activities and identify solutions to problems at the intersection of law, communications, information and telecommunication technologies.

ON6: Develop legal strategies to reduce political cyber risks, legally assess public security threats related to ICT, and collect, analyze, and use digital evidence.

ON7: Resolve legal conflicts arising from the division of property and control, the division of functions between officials and company bodies, and the remuneration of executive bodies, participants and shareholders.

ON8: Manage documentation processes competently and draft various legal documents.

ON9: Analyze the technical and legal prerequisites and requirements for the collection, storage, and processing of personal data within national and international jurisdictions.

ON10: Conduct negotiations and draft IT contracts, including licensing, outsourcing, and other technology-related agreements.

ON11: Develop mechanisms for the protection of intellectual property of IT companies and programmers, and file applications for the registration of intellectual creative works.

ON12: To form a competent specialist who is fluent in languages, developing intelligence, moral, ethical, communication, organizational and management skills.

Rustem Karimov is a finance professional and Senior Lecturer at SDU University with over 12 years of combined academic and industry experience. He holds a Master of Science in Accounting, Finance, and Management from the University of Bristol (UK), earned through the prestigious Bolashak International Presidential Scholarship, and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Auditing from the University of International Business. At SDU, he teaches courses such as Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Financial Modelling and Finance in Project Management. His research interests include impression management in financial reporting, monetary policy, and corporate transparency, reflecting a strong commitment to ethical and evidence-based finance. Rustem has also led and advised numerous financial projects through his consulting firm, ABD Capital, contributing to the financial growth and strategic development of SMEs. His academic and professional achievements demonstrate a dedication to integrating research, practice, and teaching to promote sustainable and intelligent financial decision making.

Madina Kenzhegaranova joined SDU University in September 2019. She holds a PhD degree in Management (Kazakh National University after Al-Farabi, 2015 ) and a master’s degree in educational human resources development (Texas A&M University, 2008, The Presidential Bolashak sholarship holder). Madina Kenzhegaranova has 17 years of teaching experience and three years of the administrative staff experience (2016-2019) in the position of the Director of Doctoral programs at Almaty Management University (AlmaU). Research interests of Madina Kenzhegaranova: change management in organizations, entrepreneurship. She has taught at Universities of Lithuania and Poland within the framework of the Erasmus plus program (2017 (one week program), 2018 (one week program)
