Rustem Karimov is a finance professional and Senior Lecturer at SDU University with over 12 years of combined academic and industry experience. He holds a Master of Science in Accounting, Finance, and Management from the University of Bristol (UK), earned through the prestigious Bolashak International Presidential Scholarship, and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Auditing from the University of International Business. At SDU, he teaches courses such as Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Financial Modelling and Finance in Project Management. Profile
My main scientific interests encompass finance, accounting, and auditing. My research focuses on analyzing modern financial management methods, improving accounting methodologies, and enhancing the effectiveness of internal and external audit. Through participation in university
academic projects, the improvement of educational programs, and collaboration with industry organizations, I have gained substantial institutional experience.
In addition to my teaching activities, I perform various academic responsibilities, contributing to the improvement of educational quality, supervising the research work of students and master’s degree candidates, and participating in the development of processes at the faculty level.
Through my research work, methodological activities, and professional initiatives, I strive to contribute to the advancement of science and education in the fields of finance, accounting, and
auditing. Between 2006 and 2025, I participated in several international scientific and practical conferences and published more than 70 scientific works on finance, accounting, and auditing
in international and national journals. In addition, several textbooks were published, including: “Salyk zhane salyk salu” (Taxation), “Salyk äkimshiligi” (Tax Administration), “Salyk
esebi” (Tax Accounting), “Salyk zhane salyk esebi” (Tax and Tax Accounting), and
“Nalohovyy uchet i otchetnost” (Tax Accounting and Reporting).

Dr. Ainur Abdrazakova serves as Head of the Economics and Business Department and
Associate Professor at SDU University. Her scholarship focuses on human capital development,
strategic HRM, and sustainable institutional transformation within higher education systems. She
brings over two decades of extensive international academic experience.
Throughout her career, Dr. Abdrazakova has held research, visiting scholar, and invited
academic positions across Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, Türkiye, China, and
Kazakhstan. Her global academic background includes postdoctoral research at the University of
Huddersfield Business School; academic appointments at Florida State University, Middle East
Technical University, and the Silesian University in Opava; and participation in the Horizon
Europe MSCA Staff Exchange Project ORCA: Opening Research in Central Asia. She has
additionally delivered invited lectures and keynote talks at leading global universities, including
the University of Cambridge, Columbia University, and Indiana University.

Sanat is a Senior Lecturer in Leadership/Talent Management at the Oxford Brookes Business School. He got his bachelor degree in Management from the SDU University, then worked for Deloitte (Big-4 auditing firm) as an auditor. After that he did his Master’s degree in HRM at University of Leeds. His industry and academic experience led to doctoral research at University of Malaya, it is the oldest and highest-ranking Malaysian university according to two
international ranking agencies. After completing his PhD, he worked as an associate-research professor in HRM at the top-ranked Central Asian business schools. Sanat has also contributed in the leading and teaching post-graduate level (Master and PhD) courses such as ‘Research Methods for Business’, and ‘Quantitative Data Analyses’ and ‘Employee Engagement, Performance and Reward’.

Dr. Mumtaz is currently serving as a Professor at the SDU School of Social Sciences, Business and Law. According to the Stanford–Elsevier ranking, he has been recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists since 2024. He is an internationally recognized thought leader and researcher with over 20 years of combined experience in academia and industry. He is an experienced educator with extensive teaching and curriculum development expertise across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia, having taught in Pakistan, Malaysia, Oman, and Kazakhstan. He has published more than 90 Scopus-indexed articles and has received over 15,000 Google Scholar citations (H-index: 43), more than 5,000 Scopus citations (H-index: 31), and over 900,000 reads on ResearchGate, reflecting broad international visibility and scholarly impact. He has secured several competitive research grants, with research focusing on Green HRM, sustainable leadership, AI-driven HRM, digital transformation, and advanced quantitative methodologies. He has been frequently invited as a keynote speaker, doctoral thesis examiner, research trainer, and grant reviewer. He has extensive experience in employing student-centered, experiential, and technology-integrated pedagogies and has supervised PhD, MS, MBA, and BBA dissertations and research projects. SDU University мекемесі 4-ші ELIPro халықаралық конференциясы мен KIMEP университетімен бірлесіп ұйымдастырылған 12-ші ICBCB халықаралық конференциясының 2026 жылы өтетінін ресми түрде хабарлайды. Конференция 2026 жылғы 9-қазан (онлайн), 15-16 қазан күндері Қазақстан Республикасы Қаскелең және Алматы қалаларында өткізу жоспарлануда. Бірлескен конференцияның негізгі мақсаты – конференция тақырыптары аясында жүргізілген терең әрі жоғары сапалы ғылыми зерттеулердің нәтижелерін талқылау және ғылым жаңалықтары бойынша тәжірибе алмасу, сондай-ақ түрлі салалардағы сарапшылар мен зерттеушілер арасындағы ғылыми ынтымақтастықты нығайту.

Heath Rose is Professor of Applied Linguistics, with a specialisation in language teaching research. Stemming from this professional background, Heath’s research interests are situated within the field of language teaching and language learning.

Nicola Galloway

Nicola Galloway is Professor of Applied Linguistics, with a specialisation in sociolinguistics and language teaching research. Nicola's interests are in the pedagogical implications of the use of English as a global lingua franca and the internationalisation of higher education in non-Anglophone contexts.

Jim McKinley

Jim McKinley is Professor of Applied Linguistics in higher education at UCL Institute of Education, and Deputy Head of Research in the Department of Culture, Communication and Media. His research focuses on the intersection of applied linguistics and the internationalisation of higher education, targeting implications of globalisation for second language (academic and scholarly) writing, English medium instruction, and the teaching-research nexus in higher education.

Mona Nishizaki (née Syrbe)

Mona Nishizaki (née Syrbe) is a tenure track researcher at the University of Genova’s Department of Modern Languages. She earned her PhD in Applied Linguistics from Trinity College Dublin with a thesis on Global Englishes in teaching and testing materials. Her research focuses on English as an International Language, textbook analysis, and internationalisation in education.

The Faculty of Education and Humanities of SDU University in Qaskelen (Kazakhstan) is pleased to host the 9th International Conference Building Cultural Bridges (ICBCB) which will take place on September 24-25, 2020 in Qaskelen. The ICBCB Conference aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and educators with interests in education at all levels from around the world. PRAMOD K. SAH

Pramod K. Sah is a postdoctoral researcher currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary. He completed his PhD in Language and Literacy Education at the University of British Columbia, where he was a Sessional Lecturer and a recipient of the Killam Doctoral Scholarship as a Killam Laureate. After finishing his doctoral studies, he worked briefly as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Open University in the United Kingdom. He also held a short postdoctoral position as a research associate with the British Council London prior to his current appointment. Before entering academia, he taught English and other subjects in elementary and secondary schools in Nepal for approximately five years, gaining extensive experience across K-12 educational settings. His research centres on language policy, ideology, multilingual and translingual practices, epistemic injustice, and ethnic and racialised discourses within English‑Medium Instruction in both K-12 and higher education. Among his current projects is a study funded by the British Council through the British Council London, which explores the intersection of gender and English-medium education in low- and middle-income countries, with empirical attention to Nepal and Nigeria. Another strand of his work examines how newcomer students in Canada construct, renegotiate, resist, and perform their intersectional identities—across language, race, ethnicity, culture, and religion—while learning English in Canadian school contexts. He is also invested in teacher education research, particularly the role of teacher agency and linguistic and cultural responsiveness in teacher preparation policies and training frameworks.

SENDER DOVCHIN

Professor Sender Dovchin is a Senior Principal Research Fellow and an Australian Research Council Fellow. Her ARC DECRA project focuses on empowering vulnerable youth in Australia by combatting linguistic racism. The project aims to investigate how culturally and linguistically diverse young Australians experience discrimination in their daily lives because of how they speak (https://rms.arc.gov.au/RMS/Report/Download/Report/a3f6be6e-33f7-4fb5-98a6-7526aaa184cf/183). Previosuly, she was an Associate Professor at the Centre for Language Research, The University of Aizu, Japan. She has also been awarded Young Scientist (Kakenhi) by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. She completed her PhD and MA degrees in language education at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. A/Prof Dovchin is an Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Review of Applied Linguistics. She was identified as “Top Researcher in the field of Language & Linguistics” under The Humanities, Arts & Literature of The Australian’s 2021 Research Magazine and Top 250 Researchers in Australia in 2021. Her research pragmatically contributes to the second language education of young generation living in the peripheries, providing a pedagogical view to accommodate the multiple co-existences of linguistic diversity in a globalized world. She has authored articles in top-tier international peer-reviewed journals, such as Applied Linguistics, Journal of Sociolinguistics, System, TESOL Quarterly, International Journal of Multilingualism, World Englishes, Asian Englishes, English Today, International Journal Bilingualism and Bilingual Education, International Journal of Multilingual Research, Journal of Multicultural Discourses, International Journal Bilingualism, Ethnicities, Multilingua, Linguistics and Education, among others. She has authored six books with international publishers such as Routledge, Springer, Palgrave Macmillan and Multilingual Matters. Dr Dovchin has had notable research funding success, including four external international and national research grants as the lead and co-investigator.

JULDYZ SMAGULOVA

Juldyz Smagulova is Professor and Dean of the College of Human Sciences and Education, KIMEP University. She received her Ph.D. in Sociolinguistics from King’s College London (UK) and her Candidate of Philological Sciences from al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan). Her research can be classified under four major interrelated strands: multilingualism, language ideology, language socialization, and language policy.
Professor Smagulova co-edited a special issue on Mobile Borders for the International Journal of Sociology of Language (2024), co-authored Language Change in Central Asia (Mouton de Gruyter, 2016); and co-authored Әлеуметтік лингвистика терминдерінің сөздігі (2024). She has published more than 30 articles and book chapters both internationally and locally, including in journals such as International Journal of Bilingualism, Journal of Sociolinguistics, International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, World Englishes, International Journal of Sociology of Language, and Journal of Eurasian Studies. She is a founding co-editor of two journals, Central Asian Journal of Language Teaching and Advances in Multilingual and Multicultural Research, and serves on the board of Journal of Sociolinguistics and International Journal of Sociology of Language.

SDU University (SDU) is a private higher education institution (HEI) in the Eurasian country of Kazakhstan. It is situated in the mountainous town of Kaskelen, 20km from Almaty city centre. Madina Kenzhegaranova joined SDU University in September 2019. She holds a PhD degree in Management (Kazakh National University after Al-Farabi, 2015 ) and a master’s degree in educational human resources development (Texas A&M University, 2008, The Presidential Bolashak sholarship holder). Madina Kenzhegaranova has 17 years of teaching experience and three years of the administrative staff experience (2016-2019) in the position of the Director of Doctoral programs at Almaty Management University (AlmaU). Research interests of Madina Kenzhegaranova: change management in organizations, entrepreneurship. She has taught at Universities of Lithuania and Poland within the framework of the Erasmus plus program (2017 (one week program), 2018 (one week program)

Profile
Ugur Choban joined SDU University in 2005. Since then, he has been engaged in various academic and pedagogic activities such as; revision, control and development of course syllabuses, design of curriculum plans for faculty programs, teacher training, and teaching-learning coordination. The classes he delivered mainly include; Accounting, Financial Management (ACCA). He has been counselling students in academic, social and psychological issues. He completed his master degree in SDU in 2012 and later won his doctoral degree (PhD) in 2021 from National University of Malaysia (UKM). Recently, he has been appointed as the research coordinator of SDU Business School. He has supervised numerous dissertations and his research interests include; entrepreneurship, network theory, small firm strategy and financing. He likes travelling and nature.

Profile
Dr Yesseleva-Pionka held teaching and senior academic management positions in Australia and Central Asia (Kazakhstan). She specialised in general investments and personal and corporate superannuation investments while working for Westpac Banking Corporation and
BT Financial Group in Australia. She was elected to join The Housing Connection, a not-for-profit organisation in Sydney, Australia, as Treasurer and Board Member in November 2019. In 2020 and 2021, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Commonwealth Bank, recognising her contribution to the Australian community.
Dr Yesseleva-Pionka is the Associate Editor of the Journal of the International Council for Small Business (JICSB). She is a Master Teacher for the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) Global Certificate in Entrepreneurial Finance. She was appointed as ICSB Global Certificates Manager in January 2021. In July 2021, Dr Yesseleva-Pionka was awarded the International Council for Small Business Presidential Award. The ICSB Presidential Award winners are selected from the pool of exceptional ICSB members who integrate both service and empathy into their roles as innovative leaders.
She co-authored a textbook titled Financial Planning and Personal Finance – 1st Edition in Australia and New Zealand, published in September 2022 by the Cengage Publishing House.
She won teaching awards at the University of Sydney Business School, Top Education Institute, and SDU University and was recognised as TOP 20 at the UTS Business School. She is a Grant Holder/Principal Researcher for the National Bank/Central Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the project titled " Combating financial fraud, in particular financial pyramids, Internet and telephone fraud".

Tatibekov Bolat joined the SDU University in 2011 as full professor of the fuculty of Administrative Science and Economimcs.. From 2011 to 2013 he worked as head of the department of management and economics. Since 2013 he has been working as full profesor of Business School and Scientific supervisor of the Center of Economic, Social and Busines Studies. Bolat Tatibekov is recognized professor with international experience . He worked as professor at Kennesaw State University, Georgia, USA (2002); Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan (2008); Oklahoma State University m(2009-2010),Oklahoma USA; KIMEP University (2002, 2019-2022) Kazakhstan; SDU University, Kazakhstan
