The Economics Program is designed to develop strong economic thinking, analytical competence, and digital skills. It combines academic rigor with a practice-oriented approach, placing particular emphasis on data analysis, evidence-based decision-making, sustainable development, and ESG principles.
The high quality of the program was confirmed by its 1st place in the 2025 National Educational Programs Ranking by the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs.
The program is delivered by a strong faculty team that includes internationally educated professionals with teaching and research experience at foreign universities. This ensures alignment with modern academic standards and international best practices, while fostering systematic and critical economic thinking among students.
The program has established a partnership with CERGE-EI, under which online lectures by foreign professors in disciplines such as econometrics, environmental economics, and labor economics are integrated into the curriculum. This enables students to gain international academic exposure already at the undergraduate level.
Graduates of the Economics program will be able to:
– Demonstrate a solid understanding of microeconomic and macroeconomic theory.
– Apply quantitative methods, including statistics and econometrics, to analyze economic data.
– Utilize digital tools and data visualization software for effective economic analysis.
– Interpret financial and accounting information for business and policy decision- making.

Ardak Korzhinbayeva joined SDU University in Kazakhstan in 2009 as a lecturer of Economics Faculty. From 2012 to 2019 Ardak was senior lecturer of Economics Faculty. In 2019 she has been chosen as a teacher trainer of Business School and from 2021 she is a teaching and learning coordinator of Business School. Her research interests are strategic human resource management in education institutions.

Bek Bazatbekov joined Kazakh-Turkish High School (now BIL) in Astana in 2014 as a math teacher, where he has also been a mathematics olympiad trainer. From 2016 to 2017, Bek worked as an underwriter in the company on foreign insurance “Kazakhinstrakh”, as a leading specialist. From 2017, for 3 years worked as expert in Career Development department in SDU University, after that changed to engineering faculty as social coordinator and lecturer. Now held the position of vice dean of Business School from 2023.

Yerzhan Syzdykov joined the SDU University in the Kazakhstan in 2015 as a lecturer for the bachelor level students: he had worked as a junior lecturer until 2018. From 2018 to 2019, Yerzhan was senior lecturer of the Business school in Management field. Since 2019, he has been working as a coordinator of management and economics programs. He is currently completing his PhD studies in University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Malaysia.
