International Relations educational program is an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree/program that provides high-quality education allowing students to gain expertise in various aspects of international issues and theoretic approaches to them. The knowledge and skills acquired during this program will allow graduates to become effective civil servants in different ministries, international organizations, employees in multinational corporations and non-governmental organizations.
Upon successful completion of the program, student will be able to:
- understand the scope and object of international relations;
- describe the various theories and concepts of international relations;
- analyze and interpret the current issues in international relations applying theoretical knowledge and practical skills;
- consider political, economic and social causes of the transformation taking place today;
- develop research skills for selecting, collecting and analyzing various forms of information and data and making logical and reasoned judgments;
- acquire an advanced level in English and at least intermediate level in the second foreign language (Chinese or French);
- make scientific reports, articles, actively participate in scientific discussions, international conferences, discuss international issues. Will promote the scientific and cultural development of society through research, publications of scientific works and social interaction.

Students majoring in “International Relations” have the opportunity to work in various fields such as embassies and consulates of Republic of Kazakhstan abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international departments of different ministries, local councils and administrative bodies, international departments of international and national companies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and research centers.
According to the results of the Atameken rating in 2025, the specialty international relations took 13th place out of 20 EP.
