Transfer and Reinstatement at SDU University
Applications are accepted online only. Sending documents via email is not required.
Application periods:
For the Spring Semester: December 29 – January 8
For the Fall Semester: June 20 – August 8
Step 1. Online Application Submission
Applicants must upload the following documents:
Required documents
Application addressed to the Rector of SDU University (transfer or reinstatement):
- can be filled in by hand or electronically;
- must include a contact number;
- must state the reason for application;
- must be signed and uploaded as a scanned copy.
Transcript:
- with official stamp;
- or verified via digital signature/QR code;
- preferably in English.
Additional information:
- extract from the enrollment/admission order, with an official stamp (from the current university)
- preferred semester (e.g., 3rd semester = 2nd year);
- educational program for transfer or reinstatement;
- IELTS certificate (if available).
Step 2. English Language Requirement
Applicants to English-taught programs must demonstrate at least B1 (Intermediate) level.
This can be confirmed by:
- a valid IELTS certificate;
- an internal SDU University language test.
Test format:
- Almaty — on-campus (offline);
- other regions and international applicants — online.
The test is conducted by the MDE department. Candidates are contacted individually regarding the format and timing.
Step 3. Academic Evaluation
After language confirmation, the program coordinator:
- reviews the transcript;
- determines academic differences;
- assigns the study semester;
- checks program compatibility.
Application processing time — up to 10 working days.
For students from Kazakhstani universities
Student fee:
- 60,000 KZT — for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- 200 USD — for international students.
Important notes:
- courses related to academic differences are fee-based, including cases under state grant transfer;
- to retain a state grant, the educational program group must match;
- the grant must be awarded through the general competition (not targeted);
- approval from the current university is processed after SDU University approves the transfer.
Additional documents:
- stamped transcript;
- official consent letter signed and stamped by the rector.
Document submission:
For internal transfers within Kazakhstan, original documents do not need to be submitted physically — they are requested officially between universities.
For students from foreign universities
Direct transfer from a foreign university to SDU University is not possible.
Applicants must:
- officially withdraw from their current university;
- obtain all original documents;
- apply for reinstatement to SDU University;
- select “reinstatement after foreign university” in the online application.
UNT Requirements
UNT is required only in the following cases:
- transfer from a non-pedagogical program to a pedagogical program;
- transfer from a creative program to another educational program.
Based on UNT results, applicants may participate in internal quota admissions at SDU University.
The number of quota places is limited and not guaranteed.
