Assemgul Kozhabek
PhD
School of Information technologies and Applied Mathematics (SITAM)
Profile
Dr Assemgul Kozhabek joined SDU University in 2026 as an Assistant Professor in the School of Information Technology and Applied Mathematics. Her academic journey has taken her across Kazakhstan and the UK, including Bournemouth University, where she completed her PhD in Computer Science, the University of Warwick, and research positions at Heriot-Watt and Ulster Universities. Her research explores how data and networks can help us understand complex real-world systems—from urban transport and Internet infrastructure to the way scientific knowledge develops. At SDU, she teaches Research Tools and Methods and enjoys helping students turn their curiosity into well-designed research. Her ambition is to build interdisciplinary and international collaborations that connect computational research with meaningful real-world challenges.
