SDU University Hosted “History Week” Dedicated to Republic Day
In honor of Republic Day celebrated on October 25, the Department of History and Social Sciences at SDU University organized “History Week.” The initiative aimed to strengthen students’ patriotism, increase interest in national history and cultural heritage, and promote respect for national values among youth.
The five-day program included the following thematic events:
Day One – Opening Ceremony
The week began with a patriotic march featuring students from the “Prosecutor’s Class” of Zhayly School in Kaskelen and first-year students of the 6B01601 – History educational program. Participants highlighted the importance of civic responsibility and love for the homeland.
Day Two – “National Heritage Day”
Students and faculty members visited significant historical and cultural sites in Almaty Region and Almaty city, including the Batyr Babalar Memorial Complex, Kaskelen Local History Museum, Atameken Cultural Center, the Saken Mukanov Museum, and the Almaty City Museum. In addition, a mobile exhibition by the Almaty Regional Archive was displayed at the university.
Day Three – “Youth Spirit Day”
Student clubs under the SDU Life Social Development Department organized educational, cultural, and patriotic events that showcased student creativity and leadership potential.
Day Four – “National Values Day”
The university marked National Costume Day, during which students and faculty wore traditional Kazakh attire, promoting national heritage and cultural identity. Special guest Dariga Rakhym, a finalist of the “Kazakh Aruy – 2025” contest, received an award in the “Best Image” nomination.
Day Five – Closing Ceremony
The week concluded with a performance of traditional Kazakh music by the “Dombra Club” orchestra of SDU Life.
