SDU University Awards Two Grants to Winners of the International Zhautykov Olympiad
From January 10 to 15, 2026, the 22nd International Zhautykov Olympiad (IZhO2026) in mathematics, physics, and computer science was held in Almaty.
The Olympiad brought together 612 students and 122 team leaders from 16 countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Russia, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Indonesia, India, and Uzbekistan. National teams were selected based on the results of national subject Olympiads.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Daryn Republican Scientific and Practical Center, the Republican Physics and Mathematics School, and the Almaty Daryny City Center for Gifted Children.
The Olympiad lasted five days and consisted of two rounds. The tasks were aligned with specialized school curricula and developed by an international jury chaired by Askar Zhumadildayev, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The theoretical and practical rounds were conducted at the Republican Physics and Mathematics School (RPMS) and the International Information Technology University (IITU).
During the closing ceremony, SDU University awarded two educational grants to the winners of the Olympiad. The grants were personally presented by the Rector of SDU University, Alimzhan Igenbayev, who emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting talented youth.
At the conclusion of the Olympiad, all participants received certificates and commemorative gifts, while the winners and prize holders were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals.
