International Culture Day 2025 held at SDU
On April 29, 2025, SDU University hosted its annual International Culture Day — a vibrant and meaningful celebration that brought together students, diplomats, and guests in a spirit of friendship, mutual understanding, and cultural diversity.
The event began with a Parade of Nations, where international students marched in their traditional attire under the flag of Kazakhstan, symbolizing unity and harmony. Guests then visited 18 cultural booths, each showcasing national traditions, games, symbols, cuisine, and souvenirs. These displays represented the strong bond among various nations living in Kazakhstan and highlighted the country’s commitment to interethnic harmony.
The event was honored by distinguished guests, including:
– Matthias Kiesler – Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Almaty
– Deje Holmes – Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate General in Almaty
– Liudas Subačius – Adviser to the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania
– Fabrice Neveu – Consul General of France in Almaty
– Abdumadzhid Dusimov – Consul of the Consulate of the Republic of Uzbekistan
– Sabokhot Alizhonova – Consul General of the Republic of Tajikistan in Almaty
– Jiang Wei, the Chinese general consul in Almaty
– Huang Xiaoming – Education Consul, PRC
– Akylbek Beksultan –Deputy Akim of Karasai district
– Yulia Shastak – Head of Education First in Kazakhstan
Representatives from American Councils, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, KBTU, AUES, and other institutions
With over 200 international students, SDU plays a significant role not only in education but also in promoting intercultural dialogue and fostering mutual respect among different cultures.
The event concluded with a grand concert, where students showcased their rich talents.

Once again, SDU’s International Culture Day reaffirmed its mission: respect for one another’s culture is the key to peace, harmony, and building a strong, prosperous society.
