Visit from Representatives of the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues
On 20.01.2025 , SDU University had the honor of welcoming distinguished representatives from the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues: Dr. Paul Watts, Associate Professor at the School of Education, and Professor Andrew Peterson, Professor of Character and Citizenship Education.
The Jubilee Centre, established in 2012 by Professor James Arthur, operates under the University of Birmingham. It is an internationally renowned interdisciplinary research hub focused on character, virtues, and values to promote human flourishing. Their groundbreaking work influences character education policies and practices in the UK and beyond, engaging schools, teachers, young people, parents, policymakers, and researchers.
During their visit, Dr. Watts and Professor Peterson were given a campus tour to familiarize themselves with SDU’s facilities and educational environment. This was followed by a presentation highlighting our university’s mission, values, and initiatives.
The Social Methodical Center also showcased its efforts in character education and service learning, emphasizing its role in fostering holistic student development. The exchange provided valuable insights and opportunities for collaboration, enriching both institutions’ commitment to nurturing future leaders grounded in character and service.
We are grateful for the inspiring visit and look forward to future collaborations with the Jubilee Centre and the University of Birmingham.
