Yahya Polat is an associate professor of Translation Studies at the Department of Translation Studies, Suleyman Demirel University, Almaty, Kazakhstan, where he teaches courses at undergraduate and graduate levels since 2021. Some of the courses are; Turkish-English Translation, Audio Visual Translation, British-American Literature, Introduction to Translation, NLP, and Machine Translation. His research interest includes Kyrgyz, Turkish and English Syntax, and Proverbs, which was the title of his dissertation. Translation of Proverbs, Machine Translation, and Qur’an Translation. Most recently he has been working on a book called “Altın Bulak,” Kyrgyz Proverbs and their translation into Turkish. The book contains 3500 proverbs and a 10.000-word, dictionary index, which is the most detailed study in the area of proverbs between Turkish and Kyrgyz languages. His articles; on Paremiology, Translation and Literature have appeared in several national and international journals.
