SDU University: 10 achievements of 2023
The year 2023 was a productive, successful year for our university. Let’s focus on the top 10 achievements of this year:
QS World University Rankings 2024. SDU University entered the QS World University Rankings 2024, where it took 1201-1400 place. Out of 120 Kazakhstani universities only 21 entered the ranking.
Subject accreditation ASIIN. 4 educational programs of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences received subject accreditation ASIIN, with a validity period of 6 years from September 22, 2023. According to the assessment of the expert group and the relevant technical committee, the accreditation commission decided to grant ASIIN subject accreditation without any requirements. This demonstrates the high quality of the educational programs.
Rebranding. Another important moment in the history of the university – this year was completely re-branded and the institution has switched to the name SDU University.
SDU Life. In October 2023, a new sports and culture building was opened for students.
The President visited SDU. At the beginning of the new academic year, the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich specially came to SDU University to be acquainted with the life of our university. This meeting raised the status and prestige of the university of fundamental education.
Modern library. This year a modern three-storied library meeting the state standards opened its doors for its readers. Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek arrived at the opening of the scientific library and took part in the solemn event.
QS WUS. SDU University was included in the QS World University Rankings by Subjects 2023 published on March 22. QS WUS-one of the most influential rankings among global universities.
Partnership with South Korea. A partnership was formed with top universities in South Korea in 2023.
Students developed a car. Students from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences produced an N1 sports car on their own within the university walls.
The number of grant holders who chose SDU University has increased. Among the graduates who entered the grant this year at SDU reached a record level. A total of 1,741 applicants received a state grant. 135 recipients of 200 Republic Grants, split between two foreign language majors, chose SDU University. In addition, 53% of high school graduates who received state grants in math and pedagogy are being educated at our university. This figure means that SDU University is among the leading universities offering systematic education.
