On 10-11 January, the first national Festival of Robotics “Daryn FIRST Championship” for specialized schools was held at Suleyman Demirel University. The competition was organized by the National Scientific and Practical Center “Daryn” of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the USTEM Robotics Public Foundation.
The competition for 62 teams from Kazakhstan took place in two categories – FIRST LEGO League Challenge and FIRST Tech Challenge. During two intense days, the children competed not only in the robot game, but also presented their innovative projects on “Energy”, this year’s theme.
Daryn FIRST Championship jury consisted of leading IT and digital technology experts, including specialists from Microsoft, ForteBank, and professors from De Montfort University, SDU, IITU, and High Tech Academy. Participants were rated on four main criteria: robot game and design, innovative project, and teamwork. A special feature of the competition is that schoolchildren take on different roles of a real company – from programmers and engineers, to social media managers and marketers who are looking for investment and create their team’s identity in the digital field.
