SDU University has announced the dates for the creative exam for applicants interested in pursuing a degree in Journalism. In 2025, the exam will take place on July 11–12.

Applications for the creative exam are accepted from June 20 to July 7.

The exam consists of two stages: written and oral tasks. It is designed to assess applicants’ writing skills, critical thinking, and ability to express their thoughts clearly and logically.

The Journalism major trains professionals who can deliver timely and truthful coverage of important social events. For those aspiring to join this field, SDU University offers modern educational programs, a practice-based approach, and an environment that supports professional development.

The written and oral questions for exam preparation are provided below in Kazakh, Russian, and English.

SDU Extension School was interviewed regarding the pedagogical retraining program on the “Khabar channel”. During the interview, it was mentioned that this training is aimed to solve the problem of shortage of teaching staff at educational institutions of the country.

The professional specialists from different spheres without pedagogical qualifications may apply to this program to retrain in 6-months and obtain the right of teaching at secondary schools. The full information on the training format, duration, and required documents for admission was also provided.

Congratulations to our outstanding ENACTUS SDU team for reaching the quarterfinals of the Early Stage League at ENACTUS KAZAKHSTAN NATIONAL EXPO 2024, which took place in Astana on April 25-26!

The ENACTUS SDU team came up with the Qag-az project, developing a scheme to recycle and collect waste paper. During the project, the students recycled more than 350 kg of waste paper. This important event, organized by Enactus Kazakhstan, brought together more than 40 universities, 45 colleges and schools from all over Kazakhstan.

Our students proudly represented our university, being the youngest and most promising team on the site. We congratulate the Enactus SDU team on this significant achievement and wish them further success and inspiring accomplishments!

The SDU community organized a large-scale Grand Fair to help the flood-stricken region. About 7,000 people participated in the fair, the scale of which reached a record high. University staff and students presented handmade products and sweets, also confectionery products of the canteen network.

During the event, an auction was organized and valuable items owned by the university were sold at inflated prices. To participate and contribute to this noble cause, our students prepared culinary baked goods, various decorations and souvenirs for the fair.

98% of the food and products displayed at the Grand Fair were sold out. At the end of the event, 9,429,174 tg was collected from the fair. These funds were transferred to the account of the Public Fund “Shugyla” in order to provide assistance to the regions affected by floods.

Within the framework of the activity of the International Center of Mental Education “IMEI” in the Republic of Kazakhstan on February 23 at SDU University, together with the Agency for Anti-Corruption of Almaty region held a lecture on “Healthy Thinking” and a concert program.

The main purpose of this event is to offer practical methods for solving problems of modern youth, development of healthy thinking and education of future leaders, fight against corruption, prevention of suicide, alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling addiction, as well as the development of international exchange.

By holding these events, we actively share South Korea’s experience in economic, cultural, and anti-corruption development, giving concrete examples and facts that have brought significant results in creating a changed healthy mindset among the people.

In order to develop an inclusive society in the country, special attention is paid to improving the education system in this direction. The meeting of the deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dinara Naumova and students took place recently at SDU University.

The guest told about her fate, about the limitless possibilities of people with disabilities, also held a motivational lecture. During the meeting they discussed what measures should be done to make each person feel like a full member of society.

Most people understand “inclusion” as working only with people with disabilities. However, this is a misconception. In fact, inclusion is an attitude of integration of all people in society, which is the opposite of discrimination. The qualified specialist told about the problematic issues of the strategy of development of an inclusive society and shared her experience and at the end of the meeting the young deputy answered the students’ questions.

On February 13 at SDU University was held the meeting of the Chairman of the Management Board and a member of the Board of Directors of Kazpost JSC Asel Zhanasova with the teachers and students of the university.

Asel Zhanasova, a graduate of Cambridge University, during her years of work as Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, had the opportunity to trade in the country through Amazon and Ebay platforms.

The guest of honor was given a campus tour and a closer look at life at SDU. A qualified expert gave a lecture in the SDU Life building and shared valuable information. The lecture touched upon the global IT market and trends, artificial intelligence, innovations in engineering systems. The specialist pointed out in which direction the Kazakhstani market should move and put forward important data.

At the end of the meeting Asel Zhanasova expressed sincere greetings and noted that the future of the country is in the hands of qualified specialists.

National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for 6 consecutive years conducts an independent assessment of educational programs of universities in the country.

In 2023, universities were evaluated according to 19 criteria, the main of which are: employment rate, average salary, job placement rate of a young specialist, accreditation of the educational program and relevance of the specialty.

According to the results of the rating, 15 specialties of SDU University were among the top ten in the Republic.

The group of specialties belonging to the Faculty of Pedagogy and Humanities is leading: 1st place: specialty “Physics – Informatics” 2nd place: specialty “Kazakh language and literature”, specialty “Chemistry-Biology” and a specialty “International Law” of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences.
