Webometrics Ranking of World Universities-2022 published a new international ranking. The ranking covers 132 Kazakhstan universities. Among all of them, Suleyman Demirel University ranked 8th.
The “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities” is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain. Incepted in 2004, it intends to offer full coverage of Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) irrespective of the country or discipline. Currently, it ranks 30,000 HEIs from more than 200 countries. It’s the 18th year of publication this year.
Universities are evaluated through composite indicators as follows: Visibility (50%), which demonstrates the university’s impact by counting all the external in links that the University web domain receives from third parties; Activity (50%), including Presence (1/3), the total number of web pages hosted in the main web domain of the university as indexed by Google; Openness (1/3), which takes into account the number of rich files published in dedicated websites according to Google Scholar; Excellence (1/3), the university scientific output being part of the 10% most cited papers in their respective scientific fields.
Participation in such international rankings motivates the university to do more research and develop industry-specific science. We will continue to try to keep our reputation at a high level!
