Practical seminar “Competence approach in modern IT education” was held in SDU

         The practical seminar “Competency-based approach to modern IT-education” was held as part of the grant project “Developing and implementing innovative competence-based model of multilingual IT-specialist in the course of national education system modernization” at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research of Suleyman Demirel University on February 28. The scientific supervisor of the project is Kanat Kozhakhmet, rector of Astana IT University. The co-author of the project and project executive is Rakhima Zhumaliyeva. The conducted seminar is aimed at implementing the State Program “Digital Kazakhstan” and the Program for the modernization of public consciousness “Rukhani Zhangyru.” The seminar was organized to discuss the issues of the competency-based approach to IT-education from a perspective of the formation and development of future IT-specialist competencies.
     The seminar was attended by students of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies, as well as teachers of SDU. The director of SDU Scientific department, PhD Shirali Kadyrov made a greeting speech to the seminar participants. Associate Professor, PhD R. Zhumaliyeva made a report “Conceptual framework for developing an innovative competency-based model of a multilingual IT-specialist» and presented the basic principles of developing the innovative competency-based model of a multilingual IT-specialist, the formation and development of competencies of an IT-specialist, as well as the concept of level-based language learning.Associate Professor, PhD A. Izekenova held a training “Acquiring entrepreneurial skills (competencies) in modern education” about the importance of developing entrepreneurial thinking. The practices of entrepreneurial skills training and teaching tools necessary for the process were proposed. The master-class “Building competencies of IT-manager” was organized by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Assistant Professor G. Tulemissova, where the issues of training IT-managers in the sphere of digital economy were discussed. Moreover, the competencies of IT-specialist, such as team-management, decision making and time-management were analyzed during the master-class.
     The relevance of processing the Kazakh text with the aim of more correct machine translation was considered at the training of PhD-student N. Sultanova on the topic “Morphological analysis of the Kazakh language wordforms with the use of neural networks and its application for machine translation”. The presented technology is necessary and important in the training of modern IT-specialists. The participants and speakers exchanged views on topical issues of IT-education at the end of the seminar “Competency-based approach to modern IT-education”.
