SDU library receives books from a student initiative in Canada

High quality science textbooks are often expensive and difficult to acquire by university libraries. This has been the case at Suleyman Demirel University, where the newly opened undergraduate program in Chemistry and Biology has encountered multiple barriers acquiring state-of-the-art textbooks for its students. This year Beyond Sciences Initiative, a student association based at the University of Toronto in Canada, made a special gift to SDU, donating a dozen of textbooks specializing in different areas of Biology, including books such as the Campbell Biology so much sought after in both introductory and advanced Biology courses. BSI provides a platform for international communication through various initiatives, a major one of which is the annual online conference which this year will take place on Feb 15-16. Last year a BSI conference site was hosted at SDU by the Faculty of Education & Humanities and SDU students not only actively attended the talks but also presented their own research to a broad community of scholars that were brough together by the BSI conference.
