A few years ago, I found out about a competition for a free internship at one of the promising start-ups in Silicon Valley. The competition was held
Scientific and Educational Foundation. Academician Sh. Esenov. I realized that this is a unique opportunity for self-realization. The main selection criteria were professional skills and a desire to self-improve. By the way, five people were recruited for the competition throughout Kazakhstan, and I, having no practical experience, did not particularly hope for selection. There was a direction, Data Science, something that I did. I thought that this would
be a plus for the PhD and decided to take a chance. I was very lucky that I was among the five selected candidates. According to the results of the selection, a
series of interviews were conducted with representatives of the foundation and their partners from Silicon Valley. As a result, I went through all the tours and in the autumn of the next year I went there. And so began my work in a young startup project – AmplifyLife, the essence of which was to develop a chat bot. Work in the largest state of America fascinated me with its dynamics, I made new like-minded people, met people from other parts of the world who work
in top companies of the world: Facebook, Google, Apple, etc. I was interested to share experiences, compare the curriculum, as I I teach in the CDS, and how are classes with them. For 6 months I received an extensive and interesting experience.
Today, at the same time, I combine work in the Startup with teaching in the CDS. My students receive valuable information from a large DataScience industry first-hand expert. Definitely, experience from the industry gives a great advantage in teaching. And students like it, and the teacher has a plus. I like to get experience and share it. We always discuss with students the latest trends and innovations in the field of IT technologies. Despite the fact that the Startup requires a lot of resources and performing various tasks with a large load, I plan to implement the experience gained in Silicon Valley and within the walls of the university.
