(050119) TWO FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Two Foreign Languages: English-French / English-Turkish / English-Chinese - offers undergraduate degrees in foreign language studies. The major foreign language is English. Minor foreign languages are French, Turkish and Chinese. Students choose one of them as their second foreign language in the second year of their education at SDU. The compulsory core curriculum enforced by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Education (Higher Education Department) is integrated with a list of special elective courses that are also vitally important for the students’ professional training. Thus, in addition to the study of Kazakh and Russian languages and the history of Kazakhstan, the courses in the curriculum range from general practical foreign language studies to specific courses of pedagogy, psychology and methodology of foreign language teaching, to introductory courses of humanities and social sciences (including fundamentals of economics, law, sociology, political science, comparative culture studies and philosophy). The graduates are able work as English language teachers at primary, secondary and/or high schools, specialized linguistic colleges with all responsibilities, rights and privileges.

The department cooperates with the other departments at SDU or other universities in conducting graduate programs leading to M.A. degrees in 6N0119 Two Foreign Languages: Master of English Language Teaching.
