The International Summit - Kazakhstan Technology Summit 2018 is taking place in Almaty today. The program of the event represents the largest professional forum of business leaders of Kazakhstan and the world's leading experts in the field of new technological solutions. The leitmotif of today's discussion was the state program Digital Kazakhstan, whose effectiveness is widely discussed by experts in the field of economics, the IT industry, the public sector, representatives of the business community and the education sector.
The rector of Suleyman Demirel University Kanat Kozhakhmet also participates in the work of the forum.
During the panel discussion, Kanat Kozhahmet touched upon such topical issues as the development of human capital, the role of higher education in the implementation of the Digital Kazakhstan program, the facilitation of the supply of personnel for the solution of the tasks set by the program.
The speaker put forward his own position regarding training.
- In Kazakhstan, the education market is very large, with a great demand not for knowledge, but for a diploma. That is, the cult of the diploma in parents and schoolchildren is so high that many are willing to overpay. This is a classic example of the fact that a student pays for education separately and that in the educational process he would not be prevented from obtaining this diploma. Here the question is in the mentality of parents who emphasize the diploma, and not on knowledge, the speaker said.
It was also noted that, against the backdrop of the current situation, many universities are building good business. However, the expert notes that the university is not a business model, but the basis of education.
