H.E. Mr. Jeon Seugn-Min, the South Korean Consul-General to Almaty, Kazakhstan visited faculty of Education and Humanities of SDU. Hic lecture on “Cooperation between South Korea and Kazkahstan” led to an extremely interactive discussion with the academic staff and students of the Faculty of Education and Humanities on Friday, the 30th of March in the newly opened Media Hall.
Faculty Dean, Professor Azamat Akbarov briefly introduced the structure of the meeting and encouraged students to use the moment for asking relevant questions. Mr. Seung-Min was determined to lead a discussion, rather than give a lecture, in order to find out the students’ views on important issues regarding Kazakhstan and South Korea. In the very beginning, Mr. Seung-Min gave a short introduction by talking about his diplomatic career and time spent in Kazakhstan. Focusing on the things that can be done in the future, he gave a short speech that included his own opinion about this specific topic, after which he was opened to the questions of the audience. After a 45 minutes long lecture, Mr. Seung-Min kindly concluded the seminar, and mutually agreed with the faculty administration to continue and strengthen education partnership through the Korean missions in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Professor Akbarov thanked the Consul-General for his willingness to make some significant points clearer and for holding this rather unconventional, interesting lecture and on behalf of the SDU presented a letter of appreciation. Afterwards, the Consul-Gerenal had a meeting with Rector Dr.Kanat Kozhakhmet and university’s top management where parties agreed to extend the cooperation.
